NERO is an international publishing house devoted to art, criticism and contemporary culture. Founded in Rome in 2004, it publishes artists’ books, catalogs, editions and essays.

NERO explores present and future imaginaries beyond any field of specialization, format or code – as visual arts, music, philosophy, politics, aesthetics or fictional narrations – extensively investigating unconventional perspectives and provocative outlooks to decipher the essence of this ever changing reality.

Soukaina Abrour

(Morocco, 1997) was raised in Italy since the year 2000. Her artistic research investigates the construction of the self within both human and non-human multitudes, past as well as future, through fabulation and its materialization in new forms. In 2022 she participated in a residency for Procida Capital of Culture together with BJCEM. In 2023 she was awarded the Agitu Ideo Gudeta Fellowship, conceived by Razzismo Brutta Storia, BHMF and Centrale Fies, in the same year she participated in the residency program MilanoMediterranea and took part in the Farout festival at BASE Milano. In February 2024 Abrour inaugurated her first solo exhibition, titled الماء والشطابة حتى لقاع البحر Acqua e scopa fino in fondo al mare, at Almanac Inn, Turin. Abrour holds a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.
